I have been taking lessons from Matheus for the past year and it has been a joyful transformative experience. Matheus has a wealth of expertise in vocal technique, music theory, and performing, and is also just a super supportive, empathetic teacher. He meets me where I am each week and constantly helps me discover new capabilities in my voice. He has even helped me with songwriting and figuring out how to articulate songs that I have written. Learning how to sing properly has been a lifelong dream for me, and Matheus is guiding me on that path. I would 100% recommend him to anyone!

“As a countertenor, it has been challenging throughout my singing life to find vocal coaches/teachers/mentors who really understand my voice. Matheus, as someone with a similar range/vocal type, as well as due to his vast training/studies was able to immediately hone in on where my work lied, around my vocal goals, and addressing vocal fatigue, etc. He strikes the right balance around being supportive but also challenging, so we can grow. I can't recommend him highly enough!”

Matheus Coura is one of the most motivational vocal coaches I’ve ever worked with. His dedication to his students in the studio is inspiring. He caters to his individual students’ styles—mine being musical theatre, for instance—while still teaching proper singing technique that every singer should have. We worked on sight reading as well as my musical theatre repertoire. He pushed me every step of the way through our vocal lessons and I could not have been more grateful and humbled to work with such a skilled and hardworking singer and teacher.

Me and Henry

I had a great experience working with Matheus. I was taking lessons to learn a song to sing at my wedding. I started as someone with some experience and passion (karaoke nights, general enjoyment of singing), but zero knowledge of the craft. Matheus helped not only develop stronger singing skills but also helped craft the overall performance. He also gave advice for practicing as close to real-life as possible to prepare for the event. At the end the performance went great! I got lots of compliments and the bride was absolutely elated. I would definitely recommend Matheus to anyone looking for instruction on their singing journey.

Matheus clicked with us as students almost instantly, jumping right in and improving our group as a whole in ways that we couldn’t even imagine at the time. Matheus explained things to me in a way that was tailored to my particular learning habits and helped me not only in fulfilling my part, but also to lay the foundation of my future.  When I got to college, I auditioned and was accepted into the University of West Florida Theatrical Arts department as an actor. The foundation laid by Matheus when I was still in high school helped to launch me into a role in college alongside those who had been receiving professional instruction from a young age, enabling me to stand beside them as a peer, and I will be forever thankful for him.

I had a wonderful time working with Matheus to prepare audition tapes for a college vocal scholarship! He is knowledgeable about vocal technique and is a patient and kind teacher with a sparkling passion for all things classical. He undoubtedly helped me learn about my voice and ultimately I grew as a musician. I learned how to better control my breathing and how to put emotion in my singing. I also was exposed to new styles of music and got to try my hand at some improvised ornaments. Ultimately, I ended up winning the vocal scholarship! I really enjoyed my time with Matheus and I would highly recommend him to anyone looking to improve their skills!

“What to say about Matheus? He is the most energetic person I know, always thrilled to jump into a lesson. He loves his work and teaches with on aura of knowledge, correcting your work without coming off as harsh. He is one of the most influential people in my life, as working with him allowed me to perfect my voice and be accepted to elite San Francisco Ruth Asawa School Of The Arts. Matheus receives a 11/10! I would highly recommend him to anyone looking to improve their vocal skills.”
